Come spend a few slow hours playing with fabric, colour and texture - with a festive twist.
Kinusaiga is a beautiful Japanese art form where pieces of fabric are gently tucked into a surface to create rich, textured artwork; almost like painting with fabric, but with no sewing involved. For this festive edition, our design templates are inspired by Diwali visuals, motifs and colours, bringing together the softness of fabric art with the energy and vibrance of the season.
In this small, cozy workshop, you’ll choose from a curated mix of fabrics, prints and textures, build your own composition, and create a finished festive piece to take home. No experience needed — just come curious, make with your hands, and enjoy the process.
What you’ll learn:
- How Kinusaiga works — from transferring a design to tucking fabric into the surface
- How to cut and place fabric neatly without any sewing
- How to mix colours, prints and textures to build your composition
- How to create clean edges, curves and layered details
- How to use the technique later for your own small artworks and décor pieces
What you’ll get:
- One 6 x 6 inch foam block as your canvas
- A pre-drawn / pre-cut Diwali-inspired design to work on
- A curated selection of colourful fabric scraps, prints and textures
- All tools and materials required during the workshop
- Step-by-step guidance throughout the process
- A small, intimate session with limited seats so you get plenty of individual attention
Come for a cozy afternoon of fabric, colour and festive slow making, and leave with a vibrant Kinusaiga artwork created entirely by hand.
